Today we continue the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories of the 2016-2017 school year at PCM High School with number eight.

With only one senior on the squad for the Mustang boys basketball team, planning for the future was an absolute must. One of the big keys for the young Mustangs squad was to get experience, more specifically quality experience in postseason games. Head coach Fred Lorensen’s squad was matched up with Heart of Iowa Conference foe CMB in the first round of district play, a team that they had beaten twice previously in the regular season, and knew it would be a battle against the experienced Raiders. Poor shooting in the first half led to the Mustangs trailing at half 26-25, but the Mustangs rallied and outscored CMB in the third quarter 19-11 to take a lead they would not relinquish in a 57-47 victory. PCM ended their regular season at 11-12, but return every player but Mark Bruxvoort who was lost to graduation.
