Today we continue the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories of the 2016-2017 school year at Central College with number six.

On October 29th, Lauryn Kramer’s fourth goal of the season propelled Central College’s women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in double overtime.

It was a quarterfinal matchup in the Iowa Conference tournament, and the golden goal sent the Dutch into the semis.

While Kramer got the headlines, Coach Mike Kobylinski heaped huge praise on his defense for keeping the Prairie Wolves off the scoreboard for 101 minutes.

“I think our defense is one of the best, if not the best, in the league and I think the stats prove that. Our backs do a phenomenal job of preventing shots on frame, and if there are shots, our goalkeepers do a great job of actually catching those soccer balls rather than letting them go in the goal. I thought our back four did outstanding today.”

Central would fall to Luther in the league semifinals, but had an impressive 15-4-1 season that featured a ten match winning streak.
