We have finally reached the top sports moment for the 2016/2017 sports season for Knoxville. Just two weeks after the two teams played for the first time in three seasons in the regular season, Knoxville and Pella squared off in the class 3A baseball district. The Panthers drubbed their archrivals from across the river in that earlier game 14-1, however no one thought it would be a repeat, and the fans were treated to a classic. After the team traded the lead back and fourth in the early innings, Knoxville bolted out to a 6-2 lead and seemingly had a save lead. But back came the Little Dutch to forge ahead 7-6 in the top of the seventh inning. Knoxville, down it its last out tied the game on a Justin Little R-B-I double, then R.J. Roberts provided the heroics. The Panthers unfortunately would lose in the next round to eventual state qualifier Oskaloosa 4-2 to end their season at 28-8.
