Improvements are coming to Caldwell Park later this fall.

The Pella City Council approved a $769,000 contract with Hooyer Construction to complete a wide range of upgrades. City Administrator Mike Nardini says changes include various renovations at the main shelterhouse.

“There will be replacement of all the concrete slab within the shelterhouse, and there will be roof improvements to the shelter house as well,” he says. “Overall, the big addition to the shelterhouse will be a portable ice skating rink that we will be installing in the winter months.”

He adds that an expansion of the skate park, pickleball courts, and landscaping work are all included in the bid, and that the expanded cul-de-sac on the west side is nearly complete. Weather-permitting, upgrades to Caldwell Park are expected to be complete by the end of November.
