Congressman Dave Loebsack made a stop in Pella earlier today as part of his Iowa First Tour.

Loebsack spoke with employees and management at the Vermeer Dealership of Iowa and Northern Missouri about how federal law is impacting their operation locally. He tells KNIA/KRLS News the discussion mainly centered on infrastructure spending and his desire to see a large sum of money pumped into rural projects.

“While we all want a trillion dollar infrastructure package, we have to figure out a way to pay for it,” he says. “And being from a rural district, what I find is not just Democrats, but Republicans as well from rural districts are very concerned about the proposal that is being offered by the Trump administration, which would really only have about 20 percent of the funding come from the federal government. We’ve got to figure out a way to do this so the money will actually come to rural America, and in my case, especially rural Iowa.”

Loebsack also spoke about bipartisan attempts to fix the Affordable Care Act and how regulations impact small businesses like the Vermeer Dealership. He will stop by the Prairie Wind Farm near New Sharon tomorrow. Hear more from Loebsack on tomorrow’s Let’s Talk Pella.
