A Tracy man was arrested Tuesday following an incident in which he allegedly broke into his ex girlfriend’s home to steal a dog.

Trenton Wayne Beebe, 23, of Tracy was arrested and charged with 1st degree burglary, a class B felony.. According to court documents, Beebe allegedly gained entry to the home by using his credit card on the door lock. Beebe’s ex girlfriend was home during the break in and attempted to defend herself and the dog with a baseball bat. After a short struggle, Beebe retrieved the dog and tried to use the dog to defend himself. Upon investigation by law enforcement, it was determined Beebe had assaulted the victim which caused bruises to her forehead and both biceps, as well as scratches on her hand and leg. Beebe was also charged with domestic assault abuse injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor. Beebe was booked into the Marion County Jail.
