The Pella City Council is reviewing plans to add traffic signals and additional turn lanes to the Highway 163 and Washington Street interchange at their meeting this evening.
A public hearing date will be set by the council to award a bid for the approximately $578,000 project. At their August 1st meeting, the council approved a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation to fund $200,000 of the project. According to a timeline estimate provided by city staff, the contractor awarded the contract would begin to work on adding the additional turn lanes in September.
The council will also set the Beggar’s Night date in Pella and review a special event permit for the Many Hands for Haiti Color Blast 5K. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.
