The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The board approved a HIRTA funding request for two new vehicles, which requires the county to make a 20% match with the other 80% coming from federal funds. The board approved a resolution revising the Secondary Road Department Policy on dust control which would put responsibility on the county instead of rural residents. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian told the board he removed the responsibility from the residents for safety and liability reasons. Christian says the new policy states the county reserves the right to maintain the roads if they become a safety issue. The board approved a resolution for weight limit changes on roads in Knoxville Estates from 20 tons to 15 tons for all vehicles. Resolutions designating truck routes around Knoxville Estates as well as weight limits on McKimber Drive and Lisbon Drive were also approved. They held discussion regarding 104 South Sixth Street–commonly known as the Sixth Street Annex, and approved the installation of a phone system for the building.
