Students in the Knoxville School District will hit the hallways and pack the classrooms as school begins today.
With students headed back to school, school resource Officer Kyle Keller with the Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News with the school year starting up he wants to remind everyone to watch out for all the crosswalks especially at the middle school with students and teachers crossing. Officer Keller says he knows people have a tough time coming to a full stop at the stop sign near West Elementary and he wants residents to be more aware with students headed back to class. Officer Keller says during the beginning of the school year the Knoxville Police Department will be monitoring school zones a little closer to try to get residents to slow down.
