A rivalry is renewed tonight as the 2017 football season begins as PCM travels to Pella Christian to kick off the year.

PCM is ranked 5th in class 2A and will be taking on an unranked Eagles squad after they lost a historic senior class to graduation.

Pella Christian will have a new face to start at quarterback, according to Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski, and he says Noah Treimer has a lot of difficult-to-defend skills.

Brett Roose will also likely see snaps throughout the season, depending on the situation, according to Kacmarynski. The Mustangs fell just short of a trip to the UNI Dome a year ago and will look to take the next step in 2017. PCM Head Coach Greg Bonnett tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he loves playing in the rivalry game with Pella Christian.

Pella Christian has won four in a row against PCM, dating back to 2012. The Mustangs and Eagles will kick off the season at 7 p.m. at Pella Christian High School. Andrew Schneider and Larry Hessing will have the Eagles perspective on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, and Nathan Sage and Jeff Lindsay will have the call on kniakrls.com via the KNIA2 stream, with pregame starting at 6:30 p.m.
