Pella Christian led from start to finish in a 49-0 football victory over Albia in a game heard live last night on 92.1 KRLS.
The Eagles won the opening toss and scored on the second offensive play, a Noah Treimer 60-yard run. After a three-and-out, Pella Christian struck quickly again, this time on a Treimer 55-yard bomb to Hayden Vroom.
Treimer and Kyle Fynaardt added second quarter touchdown runs, Vroom ran one in during the third quarter, added another TD catch in the fourth, and Trevan Cadwell capped the scoring.
Meanwhile, the Eagle defense limited Albia to 98 total yards.
Coach Rich Kacmarynski says that it was a total team effort.
“It was nice that we received the kickoff, drive down and score, go out and play great defense, get the ball back and go out and score again. Within relatively short order, we’re up 14-0, which kind of changed the complexion of the game a little bit. I was really proud of our defense in getting the shutout, because in this day and age of modern football, that’s difficult to do.”
Treimer led the Eagles with 157 yards rushing on 17 carries, while Vroom had two catches for 84 yards and three rushes for 29 yards.
Josh Adkinson had two of Pella Christian’s six sacks defensively.
The Eagles finish non-district play at 2-0, and they’ll return home next Friday night for the district opener against Des Moines Christian.
