Knoxville resident and American Red Cross volunteer Chuck Reeves has been donating his time to help victims recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

Reeves, who left Knoxville a week ago, drove a Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle to help those injured from the storm. Reeves has joined with 50 other Iowa volunteers to help serve meals to the people who have lost their home due to the flooding. Reeves tells KNIA/KRLS News The American Red Cross runs off of donated money and if people can open their pocket book and donate, it’s what the Red Cross really needs.

Reeves will be receiving a Governor’s Volunteer Award from Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg during a special recognition ceremony on September 25th in Pleasant Hill. Reeves was recognized for being an instrumental Red Cross Disaster Assistance volunteer. At times during the last nine years, Reeves has played a critical role as Job Site Monitor for Marion County Emergency Management during the demolition of a disaster damaged home, assisted with the temporary relocation of victims of fires, and has helped coordinate the transportation of approximately 50 witnesses and employees away from the scene of the triple fatality accident at the Pella Walmart in December of 2016. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS News as more Governor’s Volunteer Award recipients are recognized.
