Pella Christian’s volleyball team had success on their home floor, but couldn’t quite take top prize at their home invitational Saturday.

The Eagles beat Grand View Christian 21-18, 21-19, Iowa Valley 21-12, 21-15, and Knoxville 21-16, 21-14, but lost to Bondurant-Farrar 21-23, 21-16, 14-16 in the finals. Both the Lady Jays and Eagles fell out of the rankings in the latest poll, but Pella Christian Head Coach John Evenhouse says two quality teams had a close match on an overall day of improvement for the girls.

Bekah Horstman had 36 kills and 9 blocks in the Pella Christian invitational, Emma Huisman had 62 assists, and Mary Kate Bandstra had 34 digs.

Pella Christian is 12-11, 3-2 in conference, and return to Little Hawkeye action at Grinnell Tuesday.

Knoxville went 0-4 at Pella Christian on Saturday. The Panthers lost to Grandview Christian 2-0, Pella Christian 2-0, Bondurant-Farrar 2-0, and Iowa Valley 2-1.

Katie Keitges had 21 kills, Marley McKay had 34 assists, and Cassidy Pearson had 39 digs. Knoxville is now 10-15 on the season and has a big South Central Conference match at Eddyville on Tuesday.
