The Central College soccer teams head to Cedar Rapids to take on Coe in a doubleheader tonight.

The Dutch men have lost a pair of overtime games in the Iowa Conference and stand at 7-2 overall and 0-2 in the IIAC.

Central’s women are 9-1 and are off to a 2-0 start in league play. Seven of the nine victories have been shutouts, and coach Mike Kobylinski credits his three senior defenders for keeping the opponents’ attacks at bay.

“You have Rachel Verhun at the center back, left back Kayla Dowell and right back Jackie Sunderman. Then in front of that is Lauryn Kramer, a junior who’s a two-time second team all-conference player. Rachel’s pretty much started every match, and the same goes for Jackie and Kayla.”

On the offensive side, the Dutch have had 10 different players score multiple goals this season, led by Erin Manion with seven and Kallie Holte with six.

The Central women re-entered the U.S. Soccer Coaches Association’s north region rankings yesterday, at fifth, and are the first team listed as receiving votes in the d3Soccer.com top 25 poll.
