A second-half strike from forward Miguel Pina and a shutout from goalkeeper Salvador Salado-Herrera helped the Central College men’s soccer team pick up a crucial 1-0 victory against the University of Dubuque last night. Meanwhile, the Dutch women tied the Spartans 0-0.
It was the second conference shutout in the last week for the Central men, who improve to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in IIAC action.
The women are now 11-2-1 and 2-1-1 in the Iowa Conference. Central outshot Dubuque 18-7 and forced the Spartans keeper to make nine saves, but couldn’t put any in the back of the net.
Up next for both squads is a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday.
