Tulip planting is underway in the city of Pella. Staff started Tuesday in Central Park by placing 9000 bulbs in the ground.
Community Services Director Jeanette Vaughan tells KNIA/KRLS News they have a volunteer day set up this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Members of the Pella and Pella Christian Cross Country teams will be helping City of Pella parks staff, but city staff is also looking for additional help. Those interested in volunteering can sign up at the Community Center office. No experience necessary and all ages are welcome, however, Vaughan says those under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Each year, the city of Pella plants over 100,000 bulbs in city parks and along main corridors ahead of the annual Tulip Time festival every May.
