The Knoxville Rotary Club took part in the Rotary International End Polio Now fundraising event Tuesday.
Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch began the event by signing a proclamation which proclaimed today World Polio Day. The Rotary Club held a meal at the Grill and Still which was served for $20 with $10 from each meal being donated to End Polio Now. The Rotary Club marked its progress toward a polio-free world, while urging the community for support during the meal. Rotarians and students who took part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Conference were also at the Knoxville HyVee, Fareway, and Walmart entrances raising money and bringing awareness to the community for Ending Polio Now. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match Rotary’s commitment towards End Polio Now by a two to one ratio.
