Several area runners earned individual all-state honors, while the Pella Girls Cross Country team finished in second place overall in class 3A on Saturday during the Iowa State High School Cross Country Meet.

The Pella girls scored a total of 104 points and were runners-up for the third straight season, while Dubuque Wahlert placed first with 72. The Lady Dutch were led by a 9th place finish from Caroline McMartin, while Ashley Blommers and Chelsea Jorgensen finished in 15th and 16th place respectively.

The PCM girls squad finished 15th in class 2A, led by Kirsten Ives in 44th place. For our individual runners that qualified, Pella Christian’s Emma Kolb earned all-state honors with a 14th place finish in the class 2A, Thomas Gauley from Pella finished in 29th in class 3A, Josh Pulse from Pleasantville was the 78th place finished in class 2A, and J’Lyn Knutson from Melcher-Dallas finished in 136th in class 1A.
