One day after being named the Iowa Conference’s football offensive player of the week, Central College quarterback Blaine Hawkins garnered a spot on the D3football.com team of the week for his stellar performance against Loras College Saturday.

In the 19-year history of the award, Central is up to 39 recipients, the most of any school in the Iowa Conference. Hawkins became just the second Central quarterback to be named to the weekly honor roll and the first since Tim Connell was picked after Week 8 of 2007.

Hawkins continued his sensational rookie campaign by breaking school records in passing yards (367), total offense (498 yards) and tying the record of five passing touchdowns. He also ran for two scores, including an 86-yard scamper in the first quarter.

Taking to the road for the final time in 2017, Central will travel to Decorah for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Luther College on Saturday.
