According to the National Weather Service, it may be a different year, but it’s basically the same story as last winter when it comes to the seasonal outlook.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say Iowa often finds itself in a transition zone in the winter where a shift in a ridge or a trough by just a hundred miles or less can greatly affect whether temperatures will be well above or below normal and related, whether rain or snow will fall.
They believe this winter is setting up to be a La Nina year, which means temperatures are expected to be close to normal, with a slight chance of increased precipitation.
