Parents and children in Knoxville took part in Storybook Night at West Elementary Tuesday evening.

Parents were given a chance to learn techniques such as early literacy, phonics and comprehension strategies to help improve their children’s reading skills. Children in attendance had stories read to them throughout the evening by some of their favorite storytime characters and were able to take part in craft activities and puppet shows. Officers with the Knoxville Police Department also read stories about being a police officer to kids. The Knoxville Morning Kiwanis served up a free pancake and sausage dinner to everyone in attendance.
