The Pella Christian Girls basketball team opened the 2017-2018 season with an impressive 54 to 32 win over Van Meter Saturday evening.
A strong defensive effort set the tone for the game as PC was able to force the Bulldogs into 25 total turnovers. The Eagles led 14-11 after the first quarter and 25-17 at the half. They
put together a 17-4 third quarter to pull away and never looked back.
Pella Christian out-rebounded Van Meter 44 -32, and was led by Junior Morgan Fopma’s 18 points and 11 rebounds, Emma Huisman added 16 points and 3 boards, and Kaley Wilson had 11 points including two three pointers and 7 rebounds.
Next up for the PC girls is a rematch with Montezuma at home on Tuesday night. Tip off is at 7:30 P.M.
