The Pella Community Food Shelf is handing out hundreds of Thanksgiving meals to those in need tonight as part of an annual tradition.
Executive Director Melissa Zula tells KNIA/KRLS News more than a dozen local churches gathered hundreds of food items to build Thanksgiving meal boxes for those served by the Pella Food Shelf. Zula says they will be distributing close to 200 meals tonight so families can have them this Thursday for celebration of the holiday.
“I absolutely love the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and it’s because we do get to hand out these full thanksgiving meals for 200 households in the Pella area,” she says. “So when we think about what we can collectively do as a community to uplift our neighbors, I just this is absolutely just one of the most beautiful projects that could be done.”
