The PCM Mustangs got a home sweep of the Saydel Eagles Friday night inside the PCM high school gym.
The Mustang girls would take care of the Eagles 56-42 with Regan Freland leading the way with 17 points. The Mustangs would lead throughout leading at halftime 33-21 but the Eagles would battle back lead by senior Katie Schmidt and her 21 points and only lead 43-37 at the start of the 4th quarter. Schmidt would foul out early in the 4th quarter and the Mustangs would go on to extend their lead and get the win moving the Mustangs to 2-1 overall. As far as the boys game, the Mustangs were never in doubt for the win as they would complete dominate the Eagles in every aspect of the game leading 23-0 after one quarter, 49-5 at half on their way to a 74-7 dismantling of Saydel. Head Coach Fred Lorenson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he was happy to see his team play hard during both halves. He says it was an emphasis in the offseason so he was happy to see it in the win. Lorenson says if the Mustangs keep playing hard they can be a pretty good team. Next up for the Mustangs is a home battle with their rivals the Pella Christian Eagles
