The City of Knoxville and the Knoxville Community School District have partnered to find a new location for the Knoxville Public Library when the expansion and renovation project begins in March 2018.

The library will be relocating to the East Elementary School in mid-February. Director of the Library Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News the East Elementary building is perfect for what the library needs. She says the library will use the north portion of the building with fiction books in one class room, non-fiction books in another class room and an area for children’s books. Construction could take as long as fifteen months to complete the 15,000 square feet building which will include community rooms, a teen area, a drive-through drop box, a bigger genealogy room, and study rooms.
