Pella and Pella Christian will square off on the hardwood for the first time this season tomorrow night.

The girls game features the 4-1 Eagles at the 2-2 Lady Dutch, and each team is coming off at win earlier this week. PC beat PCM, while Pella knocked off Ballard.

After the win over the Mustangs, Pella Christian coach Kevin Van Maanen said that he hadn’t thought much yet about his cross-town rivals, but was glad to have a little extra time to get ready for the matchup.

“That gives me three days to kind of prepare. I haven’t watched them too much yet, but now we’ll get the game film out and start looking at them. I knew this one was going to be a tough one, so I didn’t want to look past PCM before we get to Pella. Now we can focus on Pella, see what they’ve got, make some adjustments and hopefully our girls can have a good three days of practice to get ready for them.”

Pella coach Jerod Garland is already familiar with an Eagles team that returns a lot of talent from last season.

“They’re a great team, and they’re very balanced. They have very athletic guards, (Isabella) Baugh’s great in the middle, (Morgan) Fopma’s been phenomenal at the four spot for them, and they do some nice things defensively. It will be a huge challenge for us, but I think our girls will be up for it.”

Tomorrow night’s doubleheader will be played at Pella High School beginning at 6:00. Join Andrew Schneider and Trevor Castle for the action live on 92.1 KRLS beginning with pregame coverage at 5:45.
