Central College women’s basketball guard Jessica Helton received the Iowa Conference female athlete of the week award Monday and was joined by six Central track and field athletes in earning weekly league accolades.

Men’s weight thrower Michael Firkins and female triple jumper Holly Forrester were the field event athletes of the week.

The quartet of Paige Doehrmann, Mary Gray, Lynzie Miller and Hope Heitman shared female track athlete of the week honors.

Helton and the Dutch women are enjoying a week away from action on the hardwood as they take finals. They’ll head to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a pair of games in the Cruzin’ Classic next Monday and Tuesday.

The track and field season continues after the Christmas break as the Dutch travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Prairie Wolf Invitational on Friday, January 19th.
