The PCM Mustangs split a pair of games Friday as the PCM girls basketball team would get a much needed win 51-33 over the South Hamilton Hawks while the boys would drop a heartbreaker in overtime 70-68.
The PCM girls were lead by underclassman sophomore Regan Freland and her 24 points while freshman Lillian Baird would ad 19 of her own. The Mustangs get the win and get back to .500 at 4-4 with a road game against Gilbert on Tuesday before the Mustangs hit the winter break.
As far as the boys game the Mustangs would fall behind in the first half but battle back throughout the game. As time was dwindling away in the game the Mustangs would make a few clutch long range three pointers from sophomore Jason Stafford and senior Elijah Sperfslage that would push the game into overtime tied at 62. The South Hamilton Hawks would prove to be too strong as three Mustang starters would foul out and the Hawks would get the Heart of Iowa Conference win 70-68. PCM Head Coach Fred Lorensen tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he was proud of how his team battled back. The Mustang will try to get back in the win column today as they head to Knoxville today.
