On Friday, Jason Carter was found liable in the 2015 death of his mother, Shirley Carter.

On Sunday, Jason Carter was arrested and charged with first degree murder. And on Monday Jason Carter pleaded not guilty to the first degree murder charge in which he is accused of killing his mother Shirley on the morning of June 19th, 2015. Surrounded by his lawyers with wife Shelly sitting behind him, Jason Carter received a one million dollar cash or surety bond set by Judge Martha Mertz with the stipulation that if Carter is able to post bond he will then forfeit his passport. Carter’s lawyers had requested the bond be reduced to $250,000. Carter will be back in court Friday for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m.
