

A new apprenticeship program is in the works at Pella High School.
The Pella School District is partnering with the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, Vermeer Corporation, and other local businesses to build a program that allows students to gain hands-on experience as part of their educational experience. Teri Vos with Vermeer and Governor’s STEM Advisory Council tells KNIA/KRLS News the Career Academy of Pella will be the center for a program that aims to better the opportunities for students that can help build a better workforce. Currently, the upcoming program in Pella is tentatively set to begin next academic year and will focus on welding. Students will be paid for their time working and upon completing an apprenticeship will receive certification.
