Last Friday, a jury of 7 women and 1 man based on a preponderance of evidence came to a unanimous decision that Jason Carter was liable for the death of his mother Shirley Carter.

Tuesday, Jason Carter’s father Bill Carter who brought the lawsuit against his son, held a press conference to tell the media the reason he brought the lawsuit. Bill says the suit was just a way to get justice for Shirley. He says it was never about the money which he believes he will never see any of it. Bill Carter says he has spent a small fortune on the case but he wanted justice for Shirley.

Jason Carter was arrested Sunday for first degree murder in the shooting death of his mother and pleaded not guilty on Monday. Bill Carter says he still loves his son Jason and wants to talk to him. Bill says he broke down and fell to his knees when Jason was taken into custody. He says he would love to see his grandchildren who he hasn’t seen since three days after Shirley’s funeral.

Jason Carter will have a preliminary hearing at the Marion County Courthouse Friday at 10 a.m.
