After the first round of snowfall took place heading into Christmas Eve and bitter cold spread across the region since then, more of the same is in the forecast through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, light, blowing snow is possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning in south Central Iowa, which may cause travel issues. Less than an inch is expected in most of the region, with higher amounts north of I-80.

Bitter cold is expected to last for awhile, with sub zero wind chills in the overnight and early morning hours daily between now and at least the new year.
