The Marion County Board of Supervisors has started the process of transferring ownership of the Pella Memorial Hall to the City of Pella.

At their meeting Tuesday, the board authorized Marion County Attorney Ed Bull to check all Iowa Code sections to make sure the transfer is legal.

Marion County Board of Supervisors Chair Mark Raymie says assuming it meets all requirements, they would then have the county attorney’s office draft an agreement and negotiate with the City of Pella to authorize the move. After the agreement is finalized, it would have to be approved by both the Board of Supervisors and Pella City Council.

The board also approved a five-year Tax Increment Financing extension with the City of Pella and Pella Community School District for the proposed Southwest Urban Renewal Area at Bos Landen in Pella. The Pella School Board approved their part of the extension at their meeting last week.
