After a strong start to the season, the Pleasantville girls basketball team has a chance to accomplish a goal that hasn’t happened for a long time for the Trojans, finish in the top half of the Pride of Iowa Conference.

The reigning champion Central Decatur Cardinals have a stranglehold on the very top of the standings, but the Trojans have a chance to move into the top half if they continue to show improvement. Despite a 65-34 loss to the class 1A #2 Cardinals, the Trojans played perhaps their best game of the year in their last game of 2017, and look ahead to 2018 with a 4-4 record. The Trojans first conference games coming in 2018 will be against 8-4 Southeast Warren, a chance at revenge against a 5-4 Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and 7-2 Nodaway Valley, all teams that are currently above the Trojans in the conference standings. An update on how the Trojans are preparing for 2018 can be heard this Saturday on the Knoxville Hyvee Radio Coaches Corner from 10-noon.
