Two semis and a SUV collided on Highway 163 near Pella earlier today, injuring multiple people.

Numerous agencies responded to the collision near mile marker 44 in the westbound lanes that occurred at 11:42 this morning. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in the accident report that William Pickens of Grinnell was driving a gray semi and lost vision of a Ford Escape in front of his vehicle due to blowing snow at the time. The semi hit the SUV, which pushed it into another semi trailer in the westbound lane.

Driver Mallory Davis, passenger Michael Davis, and a three year old child–all from Waukee and inside the Ford Escape, were transported to Pella Regional Health Center with non-incapacitating injuries, and the vehicle received disabling damage. Both semis were driven away with minor damage.

Pella Fire, Pella Ambulance, Pella Police, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
