Despite two winning teams playing to end their 2017 seasons and ready to say goodbye to their seniors, the field itself might have been the biggest opponent last night in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium as Iowa took down Boston College last night 27-20.

The Hawkeyes and Eagles battled sub-zero temperatures as the bitter chill enveloped all of the northeast region of the USA, and it showed on the field with many slips, falls, and mistakes on what would normally be a routine play. The Hawkeyes found themselves down at halftime 17-10, but tied it in the third and went into the fourth all knotted up at 17.

The teams traded field goals in the fourth, before Iowa’s Drake Kulick scored on a one yard run to take a 27-20 lead and a late interception sealed the win. Akrum Wadley led the Hawkeyes with 88 yards rushing and a touchdown, while the defense forced 2 interceptions. Iowa ends the season at 8-5, and earn head coach Kirk Ferentz his 7th bowl win.
