Following two not-so-close affairs in Waverly on Wednesday, the Central men’s and women’s basketball teams will try to get back to winning ways this afternoon versus Buena Vista.
Storm Lake has not been the friendliest of venues for the Dutch; the men haven’t won there since the 2013-14 season, and you’d have to go all the way back to January 10, 2009 for the last Central women’s victory on the road against the Beavers. BV’s women have won four of their last five and have the fourth highest scoring offense in the conference. Central has the second-best rebounding in the conference, but may still be without Jackie Kriegel for today’s game.
On the men’s side, the Beavers could prove to be a tough out, as they handed league-favorite Nebraska Wesleyan their first loss of the season on Wednesday. After upsetting No. 6 Ramapo in Las Vegas, Coach Craig Douma called his team’s effort against Wartburg on Wednesday a bit “sluggish,” as they saw their mini two-game winning streak come to an end.
