Mixed precipitation has caused most area roads to be completely covered with ice, slush, and snow.

Marion County Road Department, city, and Iowa DOT plows are out treating and plowing streets, county roads, and highways, but conditions remain difficult as wet snow and sleet has fallen during the midday hours.

Snow is expected to taper off later this afternoon, but due to the cold and wind, street and highways will be difficult to clear.

Drivers are reminded to use extreme caution, give all road crews space, and take extra time to get to a destination.
