It was a double boat race in Bloomfield last night as the Knoxville boys and girls waltzed by Davis County in impressive fashion in games heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The girls jumped out to an 11-0 lead and never looked back in a 57-24 win. The Panthers shot the ball well and used stifling defense to get easy baskets on the offensive end. Coach Jim Uitermarkt, worried at how his team would come out, had all of his concerns go away in the first few minutes. Maggie Wilkins led a balanced Panther attack with 15 points, Katie Keitges had 11 and Reilly Finarty off the injured list contributed ten. Knoxville is now 12-4 on the season and 8-1 in the South Central Conference. The boys took slightly longer to put it in blowout mode, but when they did Davis County could not recover in a 64-25 win. Knoxville used a 17-5 run to end of the first quarter to get distance then upped the lead to 26 at the half. Kieren Nichols led the Panthers with 15 points as they improve to 7-8 on the season and 7-2 in the South Central Conference. Today it is the Tenth Annual Coaches vs. Cancer event in Knoxville. There will be alumni games to start off the day along with a silent auction all day, with a varsity double header against Chariton. You can hear live reports on KNIA/KRLS throughout the day and the games on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA and kniakrls.com starting at six.
