Pella Regional Health Center is proud to announce that Wanda Coleman in Cardiac is a DAISY recipient.
The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on special touches and human consideration that these nurses give to their patients. She was awarded for her compassionate care for patients and their families and her flexibility among the nursing staff. Coleman received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
Excerpt from Wanda Coleman’s nomination:
“Wanda is so kind and patient to staff and patients. She does a great job of explaining the plan of care for the day and keeps patients and their family members informed as things change. She is an excellent and compassionate nurse. She keeps a positive attitude even when things are very busy. She willingly floats to many areas of the hospital to work. She also enjoys learning new things and sharing the new knowledge with other staff. She will compliment fellow co-workers when appropriate and even provide a hug or two.”
