A fire at an apartment building in Knoxville resulted in a Knoxville Police officer being transported to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics for possible smoke inhalation.

The officer was transported shortly after he helped evacuate the building. Police Chief Dan Losada says the officer was treated and released. The fire was in an apartment building at 1804 Delores Street, and crews were dispatched at 3:01 PM. Smoke was visible from the street, but no flames could be seen. Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell tells KNIA/KRLS News there was no loss of life. Knoxville Fire and Rescue, the Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department, the Knoxville Police Department, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The Red Cross is assisting the families displaced by the fire. Estimates are that 12-20 people were displaced.
