The Central College men’s track and field team was once again at No. 17 in the Division III Indoor Track and Field National Team Computer Rankings this week, while the women stood pat at No. 10 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region poll.
Sophomore Will Daniels leads the nation in the heptathlon with 5,183 points and is fifth in the high jump at 6 feet, 10.75 inches. Ryan Kruse also has the country’s ninth-best heptathlon score. Mark Fairley blazed the mile in 4 minutes, 17.7 seconds to clock in with the 32nd-best qualifying mark this season.
Mary Gray, Kiki Pingel of Pella, and Courtney Kruthoff stayed in the top-five of the pentathlon. Gray leads the way at No. 3 with 3,095 points. Pingel and Kruthoff trail at No. 4 and No. 5 with 2,882 and 2,830 points, respectively. Central will host the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships this weekend at H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse starting with the heptathlon Friday at 1 p.m.
