The Knoxville Public Library has one more week before they begin their temporary move to the East Elementary building.

The library will close its doors on March 4th and open at their temporary location two weeks later. Library Director Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News she is anxious to start packing for the move. Thompson says she is hoping the the Library’s temporary building will be ready in time to reopen on March 19th. Groundbreaking for the library’s expansion and renovation project is anticipated to be held in April, with construction expected to take approximately 14 to 15 months to complete. When completed, the new 15,000 square feet building will include community rooms, a teen area, a drive-through drop box, a bigger genealogy room, and study rooms.
