Flor Hernandez in the Nutrition department was recently selected by co-workers as the 2017 Shining Star of the Year at Pella Regional Health Center.

The Pella resident was Shining Star of the Month in November 2017. Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best. At the end of the year one of the Shining Star of the Month recipients is then chosen by Pella Regional employees as Shining Star of the Year. Hernandez receives an Employee of the Year plaque and $250.

An excerpt from her nomination form said:

“Flor has gone above and beyond in a few recent events where she took the lead. Flor took care of the recent employee appreciation breakfast without a hitch and the food was fantastic. Flor’s tasty baked goods and the foods she helps prepare are always top notch. That same day she put together a beautiful lunch for the Foundation Board. On a day to day basis, Flor handles herself very professionally and is dedicated to her team. This is evidenced by the extra effort required to plan and prep these events.”
