After an injury plagued 2017, the PCM girls’ soccer team struggled in the Heart of Iowa Conference to just one win.
Despite the injury bug wiping out top players, head coach Bill Sowder tells KNIA/KRLS Sports there might be a silver lining. He recognized how it gave valuable experience to the younger players and forced them to adjust to the speed of varsity. Sowder adds that it allowed the younger players to see what it takes to succeed at the varsity level and expects to see improvements this season. The Mustangs will need another youth movement with just three seniors making up the roster.
PCM will open up competition battling Pella Christian in a scrimmage on Thursday.
