The woman accused of killing a trucker from Monroe at an Interstate 80 rest stop has been ruled mentally fit for trial.

According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, 44-year-old Mariana Lesnic is accused of shooting 60-year-old Ernest Kummer of Monroe inside the cab of a semi-truck in September 2017 near Victor. She pled not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder. Court filings indicate a judge declared Lesnic competent to stand trial after a psychiatric evaluation was conducted. A hearing is set on April 6th.
