A two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 5 approximately two miles north of Pleasantville shortly before noon.

An empty Smith Fertilizer and Grain semi and trailer and a Skyline dump truck carrying gravel collided in the northbound lane, and when the vehicles went off the roadway they hit a power pole, knocking out power to the area. Pleasantville Emergency Services, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and MidAmerican Energy responded to the scene, and no serious injuries were reported. First responders told KNIA/KRLS News that this was the worst collision they have ever seen where all involved walked away uninjured. MidAmerican Energy reports over 600 homes were without power in the area.
