Pella once again was the class of the field at a cold and windy 53rd Annual Panther Relays on Saturday at Knoxville’s Randy Wilson Track. The boys scored 153 points and outdistanced Oskaloosa by 43 with Pella Christian in fourth with 76 and Knoxville taking fifth with 69 points and Pella’s J-V in seventh with 28. On the girls side, the Lady Dutch won over runner-up Oskaloosa by 89 points. Knoxville was third racking up 93 points, Pella Christian came in fifth with 61 points and Pella’s JV was sixth with 44 points. Winners on the boys side for Pella were: Thomas Gauley in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, Jordan Buma won the 400 hurdles, and Avery VanZee won the long jump. First place medals for Knoxville were: Travis Peterson in the shot put, and Alex Buckley in the discus. The Eagles got first place efforts from: Hayden Vroom in the 200, and the 800 Sprint Medley team. For the girls, Pella would get ten first place medals from the likes of: Paighton Malek in the 100 and Long Jump, Ashley Blommers in the 800, Kaeleigh DeWaard in the shot put, Andrea VanHeukelom in the 100 hurdles, plus the 4×100, 200, 400, 800 and Sprint Medley Relays. Knoxville got first place medals from: Abbey Jackson in the 200 and 400, Katie Keitges in the 1500, and also the Distance Medley relay. Pella Christian got first place performances from Emma Kolb in the 3000, and Allison Van Gorp won the discus.
