Winter just won’t go away in central Iowa as bitter cold and moderate snowfall is expected throughout the region and state this weekend.

Low temperatures are forecast to be in the mid-teens overnight Friday into Saturday morning. The current record low in Marion County is 16 set in 1936. Wind chills will dip to near zero degrees as well.

According to the National Weather Service, 1-3″ of snow is possible for Marion County and much of the surrounding area throughout the day Sunday.
