In a meet featuring some of the largest schools in Central Iowa, the Pella boys track and field team held their own at the Southeast Polk Boys Invitational in Pleasant Hill last night.

Pella placed 6th with 65 team points among the 3A/4A elite field of athletes. Tony Schmitz placed 1st in the 400 meter dash finals (53.29), with Colby Van Gorp placing 8th in the same race. Avery Van Zee was the winner in the 400 meter hurdles (56.92) Kody Huisman was 3rd in the discuss at 146-02, with Nick DeJong 2nd in the shot put at 49-01 and Mason Huerter grabbing 5th at 46-08.

The Little and Lady Dutch are next heading to the Pella Christian Invitational Tuesday.
